Pete's Place
One of the most popular place to eat in the town of Sorata. Located inside Hostal Don Julio, this place offers a range of meats and many vegetarian options. It is also a great place for tourist information, the owner has a wide range of books and maps on the area, including trekking maps, and can give you advice on what to do. They can also usually change money if youve run out of Bolivianos. Opening hours: Daily from midday until 10 p.m.

Café Illampu
This is an open-air cafe on the mountainside with amazing views. They serve breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake, juice, eggs, homemade yogurt, homemade bread, sandwiches and many other great selections.
Location: On road to Gruta San Perdo, 15 mins walk from town - Sorata, Bolivia
Restaurante Jalisco
A good restaurant that offers pasta, pizza and Mexican food. They also have a three course set lunch menu, national cuisine and a number of vegetarian options. Theres a good range of range of breakfast choices, including pancakes and they offer a range of wines and beer.

Altai Oasis
This outdoor restaurant is set on the countryside with nice views and the river below you. It is located in the grounds of the hotel of the same name, about a 10 minute taxi ride just outside town. Altai Oasis serves up good quality dishes with a homemade flavor. As well as goulash, polish borscht and pastas, they have sandwiches, soups and ice-cream and a good range of breakfast items.

La Gruta
This small restaurant is located just off the main plaza and serves good tasting dishes made from fresh ingredients.

Laguna Glacial Mountain Bar
Located on the main plaza, this place has happy hour every day between 6pm-8pm. They also have good food such as pastas, meat and vegetarian meals.

Casa Reggae
A popular bar among travelers, that sometimes has live music, such as reggae.
