Laguna Glaciar Laguna Glacial (Glacial Lake), also called Lichikhota sits at an elevation of 5,130 meters (17,000 ft). This small lake or lagoon is located on the Illampu-Ancohuma massif, which is the saddle betwwen the two mountain peaks of Illampú and Ancohuma. Named Laguna Glacial because a glacier pours itself into it. It is the 17th highest lake in the world and makes a nice hiking or trekking destination from the town of Sorata, where you can see amazing views along the trail. Laguna Glacial also makes an excellent base camp site for mountain climbers to begin there approach up Mount Illampu or Ancohuma. |
